Of the 1176 helmets we have for 2008, only 14 schools used the Clemson paw or a slight variation of it. So roughly, 1% used a paw this year.
Colleyville Heritage 5-5A Duncanville 7-5A Houston Cyp Fair 15-5A Dripping Springs 25-4A Van Alstyne 10-3A Commerce 10-3A Orangefield 21-3A Thrall 26-1A Christoval 29-1A (Not the clemson paw, but similar) Santa Gertrudis Academy 32-1A Water Valley 8-Six-Man Div. 1 St. Jo 11-Six-Man Div. 1 Houston Texas Christian TAPPS Six-Man Div. 2 Crowley Nazarene Christian Academy TCAF-Six-Man Div. 1

I can't make much sense of this either. Thomas, I think the fact that so many teams use generic decals is financial. It's also why a lot of teams don't update their decals very often. All Matt does is use the information that the schools (or us) provide. He does not create the helmets for the schools. I hope this was helpful.

Tim, Please do not change the subject. Besides I think that there is a Big ripoff scam out there aganist Clemson. the point is that we need new creative blood in America's high schools so that whoever has a team name associated with a cat or a dog does not getting the same ol same ol helmet every year, its that simple. period end of debate.

There is no big rip off!! I think it is crap that some colleges force schools to change helmet decals, Missouri and Wisconsin are the two that come to mind. Everyone knows where the Tiger and the big ugly W comes from. Using these decals lose the universities NO MONEY!!!!!!!! They might even gain some money. Someone from Orangefield may go by an orange Clemson shirt with just a Big white paw on it. Someone from Brackettvile might go buy a black Missouri shirt with the gold and white Tiger head. Guess who gets the money from that shirt . . . The University!
Also, Tim is right, decals cost money. Every time you add color to a decal, it cost more money. One pair of decals (one helmet) cost $4.50 for one color. Each color added is $0.25. If you buy 40 decals with one color it would cost $180. If you get a 3 color decal it costs $200. If you want Sure it is just $20, but that $20 could go some where else more useful than a helmet decal. to add the High Def or glitter decals, that costs more money. For the matter of it, go without a decal and put the $200 some where useful. Remember these are your tax dollars that are being used on decals.

Thomas is right about one thing, alot of schools use the paw. I like that!!!! I personally don't like all the new fangled stuff you see now. Getting new creative blood into the high schools is over-rated to me. I'm old school. I like TRADITION. Almost every school boasts of tradition but very few really have the tradition. Almost every football fan knows the Permian "P" is from Purdue or that Plano has had a solid white helmet since I lived there in the late 60S. Seems like schools change every couple of years. Usually when a new coach is hired, he wants HIS FINGERPRINT on the program. Most universities find it an honor to have a HS use their emblem. Most charge a fee, but minimal for copy right purposes. Years ago Flower Mound tried to slightly change the Kansas State "Wildcat". KSU charged, I believe, it was $10. They said they didn't want to make money off HS, that they make enough on their own.
Matt, two notorious schools who complain about their logo. University of Miami and Washington State. That is why Abilene Cooper changed theirs for the first time since the '80s.

Forgot about the Washington State deal with Cooper. I heard that UT only charges a dollar to use the longhorn decal. I've never heard of the U complaining. Tulsa Union uses the Miami U. I saw a video either from Austin or San Antonio talking about this issue. The university of missouri had a gripe with one of the SA schools because they used the same block M as missouri.

Miami did sue Tulsa Union about 4years ago but i believe it was settled out of court and cost Union no money.
